Seed Show art and quilt winners are announced

The art show held as part of the 53rd annual Montana Seed Show for 2002 in Harlem was again a success this year.

Several artists participated in the show. The auction was held on March 8, and 21 pieces were up for sale.

The best of show for artists in the adult division was won by Don Greytak of Havre. A piece of art will be purchased from him for the raffle next year.

The best of show for the youth division was won by Aarica Healy of Harlem.

The Bella Sanguins Art Award this year was presented to Bob Williams of Havre.

The piece of art raffled off this year was done by Kris Shaw of Havre and was won by Kelly McCracken of Turner.

The piece of art used for the cover of the Montana Seed Show book for 2002 was done by artist Judy Michael of Malta and was bought by Renee Hansen of Harlem at the March 9 banquet.

The quilt show was held for the 10th years and had 60 entries.

The Christmas quilt, which was made by members of the Nimble Thimble's Quilt Guild, was won by Denise Thompson of Havre.

Mary Eldridge from the Country Quilts & Fabric store of Chinook and Brandy Carlson from the Silver Thimble in Havre donated quilt books for door prize drawings.

The proceeds from the silent auction are used by the guild to bring quilting and sewing teachers and speakers in for its members to learn more different techniques in quilting.

The Nimble Thimble's Quilt Guild always welcomes new members. It meets the second Monday of each month, alternately with Harlem, Hogeland and Turner. Dues are $5 a year.
