HRDC sets child-care conference

District 4 HRDC Child Care Link will presents its Spring Mini-Conference on April 6 at the HRDC Community Center at 2229 Fifth Ave.

From 8 to 10 a.m., "Count Me In" will be presented by Libby Hancock-Mack of the Early Childhood Project. She will talk about early childhood career development in Montana and walk those in the course through the process of joining the practitioner registry.

From 10 a.m. to noon, "What Do You Do With the Mad That You Feel?" will be presented by Chris Seifert, the Montana PBS outreach director. This workshop, produced by Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood, will focus on ways to help children manage anger and self-control.

Lunch will be served from noon to 1 p.m. and is included in the registration fee.

From 1 to 3 p.m., "Sharing Stories, Sharing Lives" is a cultural workshop presented by Chris Seifert, Libby Hancock-Mack and Lawrence Adams. Adams is the Fort Belknap tribal child-care compliance officer.

From 3 to 5 p.m., "Healthy Environments for Children" will be presented by the Hill County Health Department.

Children are exposed to an array of environmental toxicants at home, play and in child-care settings. This session will help identify common intoxicants and outline strategies to deal with them.
