Bear Paw Ski Hill season ends Saturday

Area skiers and snowboarders have two more chances to enjoy the slopes at Bear Paw Ski Hill while the snow lasts.

The ski hill, located at the Chippewa Cree Recreation Area 29 miles south of Havre, will be in operation Friday and Saturday but closed on Sunday.

Eagle Creek Ski Patrol board member Ed Hill said today the season was extended one week because of the good base of snow on the hill and a recent snowfall. Hill, who also serves on the Snowdance Ski Association board, said volunteers have come forward to staff the hill on Friday and Saturday.

"We still have a good base, about 14 inches on the bottom and 30 inches at the top in the north bowl," Hill said. "Dave (hill manager Dave Martens) was out there yesterday and said it snowed about 4 more inches."

The chairlift is scheduled to operate from 10:30 a.m. to about 4 p.m. both days.
