Name: Casey Crites

In what was a total team effort by the KG KouGars, winning Saturday's Chinook Invitational Track Meet at Havre Middle School, junior Casey Crites stood out with two first-place finishes and one second-place finish.

Crites cleared 6 feet to take first in the high jump, edging out Hinsdale's Brad Jensen. Crites added a second-place finish in the 100-meter dash, falling to Havre's Steve Heberly. Heberly won with a time of 10.90 with Crites coming in at 11.20.

Crites also raced on the 4 X 100 (400-meter) relay team which took first with a 46.35 time. The KG team sprinted past Havre's team which finished with a time of 46.45.

Crites also participates in football and basketball for the KouGars.

Name: Jayla McPherson

Class: Senior

School: Havre

Sport: Track and Field

Havre senior Jayla McPherson had a strong showing in her first track meet of the season Saturday at Havre Middle School.

McPherson finished first in the discus with a throw of 111 feet, 8 inches and finished second in the shot put with a throw of 34-4. The two top finishes earned key points for the girls team which took third.

McPherson and her teammates are in Great Falls today for a track meet with CMR and will be back at Havre Middle School Saturday for the Havre Invitational.

McPherson, who recently signed to play basketball for the University of Great Falls Argos next fall, also competed in volleyball and basketball for the Ponies.
