Havre track teams at CMR today

After competing in the first meet of the season last Saturday, the Havre High track team finds itself in the middle of a very busy week.

The Ponies are in Great Falls today for a meet with the CMR Rustlers and will host their own invitational meet at Havre Middle School Saturday. The Havre junior varsity team will also compete at Wednesday's KG Invitational Track Meet at Havre Middle School.

The Havre boys team finished second at Saturday's Chinook Invitational Meet, falling 50 points behind the KG KouGars. The Havre girls team finished in third place behind Cut Bank and Wolf Point.

Both Havre relay teams placed second behind the relay teams from KG. Steven Harmen placed first in the long jump, Steve Heberly first in the 100-meter dash and Garrett Watson first in the 800-meter run. Watson, Jeff Sprinkle and Kasey Barsotti finished second through fourth respectively in the 1600-meter run with Sprinkle and Barsotti taking third and fourth respectively in the 3200-meter run. Adding another second-place finish was Joey Howland in the pole vault.

For the girls, Jayla McPherson finished first in the discus and second in the shot put. Alicia Rundquist added a second-place finish in the 3200-meter run and a third-place finish in the 1600-meter run. The 4 X 100 (400-meter) relay team placed second behind Conrad.

The meet at CMR is slated to begin at 2 p.m.
