Northern golfers fourth at Warrior invite

The Montana State University-Northern Skylights golfers wrapped up their spring season opener Tuesday at the Warrior Spring Invitational at the Lewiston Golf and Country Club in Lewiston, Idaho.

The Skylights remained in fourth place after the second day of competition. Rocky Mountain College won the women's event with scores of 362, 365 and 345 for a combined 1,072 score. Lewis-Clark College finished in second and Montana-Western in third. Northern's scores were a 419, 394 and 403 for a total of 1,216.

Toni Bickford dropped to seventh place for the Skylights, finishing at 58 strokes over par. Bickford had scores of 93 and 87 to put her in a tie for first after the first day. But a 94 on the final day gave her a total of 274, dropping her to a tie for seventh.

Kaycee Link finished strong with a final-round 94 for a 293 total and 77 strokes over par for 18th place. Link shot a 101 and a 98 on the first day. Ristina Johnston and Theresa Newman followed in 26th and 27th place respectively. Johnston fired scores of 110, 107 and 106 for a combined 323 and 107 over par. Newman's scores were 115, 102 and 109 for 326 total and 110 over par.

Lewis-Clark's Caroline Bradley won the tournament with scores of 87, 93 and 78 for a combined 258 at 42 strokes over par. Sarah Hamilton from Rocky finished in second with Leslie Hodge from Lewis-Clark in third.

The Skylights' next tournament is April 22-23 at Westminster College in Salt Lake City.
