Johnson selected to play in Hawaii

Justin Johnson of J-I schools has been selected to represent Montana in a basketball tournament in Hawaii.

Johnson has been selected to play basketball in a National Invitational Tournament July 4-13.

The committee receives over 2,500 nomination forms each year, representing the top 5 percent of the U.S. junior basketball players in terms of talent. Out of the pool of nominations, the committee selects players who would best represent the regions and states as the best of basketball class of 2003. The criteria for selecting players includes past performance, most current statistics, academic standing, awards received and the coaches personal evaluation and recommendation to be selected for the tournament.

In July, 180 of the best junior players from 48 states will converge in Hawaii to compete in the tournament. The tournament will be held on the Island of Oahu at the BYU-Hawaii campus.

Aside from spending the week playing basketball, the players will spend a few days touring the sights which include Waikiki Beach, Pearl Harbor, the Polynesian Cultural Center and the city of Honolulu.
