Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Chester. Burial will follow in the Chester Cemetery.

Vickie was born Jan. 21, 1960, at Sidney to Allen and Gloria (Frank) Nelson. She received her early education at Glendive and Lewistown. Her family moved to Shelby in the early 1970s, so she finished her formal schooling there.

In 1979, Vickie married Scott McDonald at Shelby. They moved to Richey where Vickie worked as a clerk at Big Sky Hardware. They eventually moved to Shelby where Vickie worked as a cook in various community restaurants. The McDonalds had two daughters before their marriage ended in divorce.

In 1992, Vickie became companion to Robert Wahl. They moved to Chester in 1994. She managed DJ's Golden Harvest Cafe in Chester for five years. Then her health began to fail. She quit her management position, but continued to work part time as a cook in several Chester restaurants. About a year ago, she became disabled due to complications of her diabetes, including renal failure and dialysis. Still, she tried to stay active in the Chester community.

Vickie's hobbies were many. In her early years, she enjoyed crocheting, water skiing, fishing and camping. In more recent years, she liked to play keno and cards, especially rummy. Vickie collected angel and cow figurines and miniature pink-and-green depression glassware. She enjoyed her many house plants and was an excellent cook. Her family will always remember her delicious homemade pies. Vickie was a lifelong cat lover.

Vickie was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her daughters, Sarah Cole of Chester and Rebecca McDonald of Butte; sister, Penny Zuroff of Richey; her significant other, Robert Wahl of Chester; three grandchildren; five nephews and nieces.

Arrangements are by Rockman Funeral Chapel, Chester.
