Name: Steve Heberly

Class: Junior

Havre junior Steve Heberly used the strong winds to his advantage Saturday at the Havre Invitational Track Meet at Havre Middle School.

Heberly flew to the finish line in 10.70 seconds for a first-place finish in the 100-meter dash and ran a leg in the 400-meter relay team which also took first in 45.96 seconds.

In Tuesday's CMR triangular, Heberly raced to another first-place finish in the 100-meter dash. Heberly's time of 10.88 was over four-tenths of a second ahead of his next competitor.

Heberly also plays baseball for the Northstars. On Sunday, Heberly went 1-for-4 with a walk in the Northstars' 16-4 win. Heberly drove in one run and scored twice.

He's also a football and basketball standout for the Ponies.

Name: Kim Berg

Class: Junior

School: KG

Sport: Track and Field

KG High School's Kim Berg is on track to be ranked nationally again this year in the javelin throw.

Berg has adjusted to a new and heavier javelin, by placing first in each of the three meets the KouGars have competed in this season. Berg topped off each of her first-place finishes with a throw of 136 feet 5 inches in the Chinook Invitational Meet two weeks ago. Berg's throw was 33 feet longer than her second-place opponent.

At the KG invitational last Wednesday, Berg threw the javelin 129-2 for first, nearly 24 feet ahead of the next placer. Berg's throw Saturday at the Havre invitational was a 127-2.

Berg also plays basketball and volleyball for the KouGars.
