MARVIN ANDERSON, Obituary

Marvin E. Anderson, 83, died Monday, April 15, 2002, at a Havre care center.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at First Lutheran Church with Pastor Brad Ulgenes officiating. Cremation will follow the service.

Marvin was born April 15,

1919, to Stephen and Louise (Nystrom) Anderson at Havre. His parents homesteaded 27 miles north of Inverness. He attended country school and graduated from Rudyard High School.

Marvin lived in Missoula, Ronan and other areas of Montana. He returned to Havre and worked briefly for the Great Northern Railway. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. He served in Italy and other European and African countries. He was honorably discharged on Oct. 3, 1945, and moved back to Havre and his job with the Great Northern Railway. He was a brakeman and later became a conductor.

On Nov. 26, 1947, he married Edith Gribble in Havre. In 1981, Marvin retired after 42 years with the railroad, which by that time had changed its name to the Burlington Northern Railway.

Marvin enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, traveling and going on vacations with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Stephen and Louise Anderson; sisters, Inez and Lillian Anderson.

Survivors include his wife, Edith Anderson; daughters, Debbie (Joe) Stubbs of Sarasota, Fla., and Roberta Anderson of Havre; son, David W. Anderson of Kalispell; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

Services and arrangements are under the direction of the Holland and Bonine Funeral Home and First Lutheran Church of Havre.
