Small school districts have elections

April 17, 2002

Fred Davey is running for election because nobody else will.

A former trustee on the Davey Elementary School board, Davey will replace Lisa Overlie, and is unopposed in the May 7 election.

"There's over 20 people in this district and no one else wants to run. So, I have to fill the spot," Davey said. "I really didn't want to do it myself, but I had to do it."

Davey will join incumbents Carol Gallagher and Davey's wife, Violet Davey, on the three-member board.

"Our job is to just keep the school running more than anything. We have to interview teachers and do the small stuff," he said.
