Child safety seats available for rent

April 19, 2002

The Hill County Safe Kids/Safe Communities Coalition is offering a rental program for child safety seats. It has rear-facing infant-only seats, convertible seats and booster seats at affordable rates for Hill County residents and visitors.

Is your child 4 feet, 9 inches or weighing in at 80 pounds or more? If not, they should still be utilizing a child safety seat.

As 90 percent of all child safety seat are installed or used incorrectly, it's very important to take a few things into consideration when purchasing, installing and using a child safety seat. Make sure that you always read the manufacturer's instructions completely, and be sure to send in the registration card for the seat as soon as possible. It's very important that the child fits the weight and height requirements of the seat, and is buckled in with no extra padding.

The best way to ensure safety is to have your child seat inspected by a child safety seat technician. To make an appointment to have your child safety seat inspected, please feel free to contact the Havre Fire Department at 265-6511 or the HELP Committee at 265-6206.
