Class of 1952 returns to Northern

Some old-time graduates will be joining the Class of 2002 at Montana State University-Northern for this year's commencement.

Northern Montana College's Class of 1952 will lead the entry processional of the ceremony, beginning at 10 a.m. on May 11 in the university gymnasium. During the ceremony, the reunion alumni will receive anniversary diplomas. A total of 439 undergraduate and graduate degrees will be awarded to the Class of 2002.

The reunion will begin on May 10, with registration at 11 a.m. in Donaldson Commons, followed by a luncheon in the commons. Chancellor Alex Capdeville will give a welcoming speech at 11:30 a.m. and tell the alumni what is being done to improve the campus and university.

The university's Northstar student ambassadors will give the Class of 1952 a tour of the campus the afternoon of May 10, followed by a class meeting at 3 p.m., and a Founder's Excellence dinner and reunion banquet at the Student Union Building dining room at 7 p.m. The alumni will be recognized during the banquet.

"We have kind of a pinning ceremony," said Judy Bricker of the Alumni Association, during which the reunion alumni receive their 50-year commemorative pin.

The graduation brunch in the SUB dining room for the 50th reunion alumni, the 2002 graduates and their family and friends, plus the university faculty, staff and administration, follows the commencement ceremony. A tour of Havre Beneath the Streets is scheduled for Saturday afternoon.

The Northern Alumni Association board members are hosting a social hour and barbecue in Donaldson Commons at 7 p.m. on May 11 to close out the reunion activities.
