VICTOR HANSON, Obituary

Victor Hanson, 88, died Friday, April 26, 2002, at a Great Falls hospital of natural causes.

Funeral Services are at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at the First Lutheran Church with Pastor Brad Ulgenes officiating. Burial is to follow funeral service at the Highland Cemetery.

Fellowship to follow the burial at the church.

Victor was born on Sept. 28, 1913, to Carl and Anna (Helgeson) Hanson at Scobey. He was educated at Scobey and graduated from Scobey High School.

On Jan. 3, 1935, Victor married Verlie Miller at Sidney. To this union, two children were born. Victor moved to Havre in 1938 to manage Hanson's Conoco. He worked for the Great Northern Railway for one year, then was foreman on the O'Neil Ranch in Big Sandy for four years before purchasing the cattle ranch eight miles southeast of Havre. It was located on the Little Box Elder Creek. During this time he was also a cattle buyer for 10 years. He sold his ranch eight years ago and purchased a home 10 miles south of Havre.

His greatest love were his family, cattle, horses, and his cow dog. He played the violin, and absolutely enjoyed any kind of music and singing. He and his wife were snowbirds, going to Arizona for 13 years. Over the years they spent many years planning trips together.

He was a past board member of the First Lutheran Church, and was a member of the Montana Stock Growers' Association, Fraternal Order of the Eagles, the Good Sam Club, Sons of Norway, and the Bullhook Bottoms Barber Shop Chorus.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Verlie (Miller) Hanson of Havre; sisters, Elenor Tigen and Edna Murphy, both of Scobey, Alpha Hanson of Havre; son, Gary (Joellyne) Hanson of Vancouver, Wash.; daughter, Ann (Charles) Manuel of Havre; 10 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren.

Services and arrangements are under the direction of the Holland and Bonine Funeral Home.
