KENNETH WING SR., Obituary

LODGE POLE/FORT BELKNAP Kenneth "Half Bear" Wing Sr., 70, Indian name Mahto Hungay (Half Grizzly Bear), a longtime Green Thumb worker, died Monday, April 29, 2002, at a Havre hospital of liver complications.

Wake services will be held at 7 p.m. today at the Medicine Bear Lodge in Lodge Pole and funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Medicine Bear Lodge with burial in the Wing Family Cemetery at Lodge Pole.

Kenneth was a lifelong Fort Belknap resident and was an enrolled member of the Assiniboine Tribe. He was born May 9, 1931, at Fort Belknap to Leo and

Isabelle (Walking

Chief) Wing and attended school at Lodge Pole and Pierre, S.D.

Kenneth married Violet Cliff in 1950 and they divorced in 1968. He married Gaileen No Runner and they later divorced.

Kenneth worked on the railroad in the Hi-Line area, Hungry Horse Dam, Fort Peck Dam, was a hunting guide on the Fort Belknap Reservation, worked for the Fort Belknap Tribe on different construction projects, and most recently was as a Green Thumb worker for the Fort Belknap Senior Citizens.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, especially for trophy game, powwows, and was an avid sportsman.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Isabelle Wing; biological father, Herb Fish; brothers, Edward Wing, Thomas Wing and Richard Wing; sons, Robert "Benneford" Wing and David Wing; two grandsons and two granddaughters.

Survivors include his sons, Kenneth Wing Jr., Randy Wing and Clyde Wing, all of Lodge Pole, Ronald Wing of Fort Belknap, Steve Wing of Browning, Brian Wing of Gallup, N.M., and Charles Wing of Warm Springs, Ore.; daughters, Jackie Wing of Lodge Pole and Kathy Wing of Gallup, N.M.; brothers, Dennis "Boe" Wing and Joseph Wing, both of Lodge Pole; sisters, Mary Bird and Elmyria Wing, both of Lodge Pole, Roselie Wing and Jolene Sears, both of Fort Belknap, and Arleta Feather Earring of Wolf Point; 24 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and companion, Tiney Matte of Fort Belknap.

Adams Funeral Home of Malta is in charge of arrangements.
