Stone Child College hosts commencement on Friday

Twenty students will pick up 23 degrees during Stone Child College commencement exercises at 1 p.m. Friday in the college gym.

Three of the graduates, Melissa R. Swan, Mary Wolf Child-Small and Susan R. Raining Bird, are multiple degree recipients. Each will be awarded two degrees. Swan and Wolf Child-Small have earned associate of science degrees in general business option and small business management. Raining Bird has earned associate of arts degrees in human services; one is a technology option and the other is a chemical dependency option.

The commencement address will be given by Gilbert "Bruce" Meyers, Chippewa Cree tribal member and former Indian liaison officer with the state of Montana.

Valedictorian is Barbara Jean O'Leary and salutatorian is Tessie LaMere.

Master of ceremonies will be Todd Hanson. SCC President Steve Galbavy and college board chairman Jonathan Windy Boy will present the graduates and the degrees.

A picnic will follow the ceremony.

Stone Child College is an equal opportunity tribal community college located at the Agency on Rocky Boy's Indian Reservation in the Bear Paw Mountains.
