HAROLD SHAWLEE, Obituary

LOS ANGELES Harold P. "Hal" Shawlee, 78, died on Wednesday, April 10, 2002, at his home in Los Angeles, Calif.

There will be no memorial services and following cremation, his ashes will be scattered at sea.

Harold was born in Havre to Rose Mary and Jim Shawlee on Oct. 21, 1923. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and was honorably discharged on March 1, 1946, with the rank of master technical sergeant.

Shawlee was a chamber of commerce executive in Riverside and San Bernardino, Calif. He was then employed by the Western Oil and Gas Association in Los Angeles. He then worked for UNOCAL Corp. from Jan. 1, 1967, until he retired on March 1, 1987.

Harold was a past president of the Los Angeles chapter of the Public Relations Society of America and a founder and past chairman of the Los Angeles Public Affairs Officers Association.

Harold's parents are longtime Havre residents and owners of Jim's Silver Grill on First Street.

Survivors include a brother, N. Keith, and several nieces and nephews.
