Havre employers honored for support of the National Guard and Reserve

The organization Employer Support for the Guard and Reserve this week presented "My Boss is a Patriot" awards to two businesses and one school in Havre.

The recipients were McDonald's, Finest Boot Repair and St Jude Thaddeus School.

The awards were presented to Moe and Carson Coryell, owners, and Kim Otto, manager of McDonalds; Ron Lorang, manager of Finest Boot Repair, and Theresa Cowdery, principal of St Jude's school.

An employer is nominated by an employee because of his or her heart-felt support in allowing the employee to perform military duties without hesitation or question.

"Since 9-11 our country has undergone a tremendous awakening, and our National Guard/Reserve is being tasked, thus causing a shortfall within in the civilian employer's workplace," said Angelika C. Lamie, ESGR ombudsman for Montana.

"The ESGR Committee is grateful and thankful for their support in allowing them the freedom to perform their military duties and returning back to their civilian workplace without question once their military duty has ended," she said.

The National Committee for ESGR was established by presidential proclamation in 1972 to inform employers of the increasing importance of the National Guard and Reserve.
