BETTY NEISS, Obituary

Betty Jean Neiss, 70, died Saturday, May 4, 2002, of natural causes at her home in Havre.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the St. Paul Lutheran Church with Pastor Alfred Ebel officiating. Burial will follow at the Highland Cemetery. A Fellowship reception

will follow the committal service at the VFW Club in Havre.

Betty was born July 19, 1931, Fletcher and Frances (Bartch) Clampitt, at home in rural McCone County. She attended schools in rural McCone County and graduated from Frazier High School.

In 1948 she married Robert Lingle, to this union one child was born. The couple later divorced. In 1950 she moved to Havre for employment reasons.

In 1951 she married Perry Neiss, to this union three children were born. The couple later divorced.

Betty worked as a waitress at the 4B's, Gallery, Ted's Drive-in, The Dutch Shop, and Woolworths. She also worked at the Rocky Mountain Packing Company. Her retirement was more of a career change than retirement. After retiring, she started volunteering at several different agencies including but not limited to the VFW, the North Havre Community Services Food Bank, Feed My Sheep, and The Give Away House, just to name a few. She also made more than 500 quilts for those who needed one. She made lap robes for the VA Center in Ft. Harrison. She knitted hats and booties for premature infants at the

hospital. She also made dolls, doilies, afghans, and about anything that could be knitted, crocheted, or sewn, usually for someone else. Her kindness and generosity were felt by many.

The special part of her life were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was also a great cook and mother-in-law.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fletcher and Frances Clampitt; son Terry Neiss; sister, Anne Raw; brothers Jess Clampitt, Ray Clampitt, Jay Clampitt, Robert Clampitt.

Survivors include her daughter, Sherry (Robert) Kuntz of Helena; sons, William (Trish) Neiss of Sidney and Derry (Michelle) Neiss of Farmington, Minn.; sisters, Phyllis (Steve) Birkoski of Great Falls, Sheryl (Bob) Murdock of Great Falls, Geri (Jim) Dykeman of Mercer Island, Wash., Roberta (Ted) Danielson of Belle Fourche, S.D.; brothers, Frank Clampitt of Frazier, Hank Clampitt of Glasgow; grandchildren, Michelle Neiss Butler, Christopher Kuntz, Jennifer Kuntz, B.J. Neiss, Carey Jean Neiss, Lori Neiss, Zachary Neiss, Andrew Neiss; great-grandchildren, Cody Kuntz and Raychel Kuntz.

Services and arrangements are under the direction of Holland and Bonine Funeral Home.
