Gliko added as candidate for mens coach

Another candidate has been added to the mix for the Montana State University-Northern head men's basketball coaching position, athletics director Ted Spatkowski announced Tuesday.

Reece Gliko will be interviewed by a search committee on Tuesday. Gliko, the head men's basketball coach at Olympic College in Bremerton, Wash, will meet with the public at an open meeting at 5 p.m. in the Fireside Room of the Student Union Building.

Three other candidates will be interviewed for the position, which opened up when former men's coach Brian Harrell resigned last month.

"Reece was one I was looking at right from the beginning," Spatkowski said. "He was on my first list. It took me a while to find him and when I finally reached him, he was interested in the position."

Gliko is on his honeymoon, Spatkowski said, which is why he was unable to contact him when the job first opened.

Gliko played high school and college basketball in Montana. After two years at Rocky Mountain College, he spent the next two at Montana State University-Billings, where in his senior year, he led NCAA Division II in scoring, Spatkowski said.

"He has a huge Montana background and a name that's very well known to the state," Spatkowski said.

Gliko also owns and operates the Big Sky Basketball Academy in Belt, where he directs overnight basketball camps, day clinics and private lessons throughout the summer.

Earlier in his career, Gliko was at MSU-Billings as a volunteer assistant coach in 1997 and as an assistant coach at MSU-Northern in 1998.
