Used books, computers and an old nurses car

Attention garage sale enthusiasts: You may have a chance to own a piece of Havre education.

Items including tables, old textbooks, computers and a car older than every current district student may soon be for sale by Havre Public Schools.

At its Tuesday meeting, the Havre school board will decide if it wants to dispose of school property via a garage sale. The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m.

The sale, according to district director of operations Ric Floren, would be held at Devlin School on June 12. The time has yet to be determined, Floren said, but would likely be about 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

"These are things from the classroom and things from the maintenance shop," he said. "We've also got an old nurse's car from about 1978."

The last time the district held a garage sale, in June of 1999, it raised between $6,000 and $7,000, Floren said. The money goes to reduce the amount of taxes collected by Havre Public Schools.

Other items to be sold include kids' chairs, printers and lawn mowers. The items are either obsolete or are simply unused by the district.
