Name: Emily Tranberg

Class: Senior

School: Chester

Sport: Tennis

Chester senior Emily Tranberg was a big reason why the Chester Coyotes won last weekend's North B/C Divisional Tennis Tournament. The Coyotes edged out Fort Benton by two points for the win.

Tranberg, ranked fourth going into the tournament, knocked off Fort Benton's Janae Singer, 6-4, 6-3, in the semifinals. Singer was previously undefeated against divisional opponents for the season.

"She had a huge win," Gordon said. "In order for us to even have a shot at (the title), she had to do that. She is playing great tennis for us right now."

Tranberg finished second after losing to Fort Benton's Abby Kelly in the championship round. Kelly won by scores of 6-3 and 6-1.

Tranberg defeated Big Sandy's Field in the first round, 6-1, 6-1, and then beat teammate Tess Ritter in the quarterfinals, 5-7, 6-0, 6-3.

This was the seventh straight divisional title for Chester.
