BERNICE PETERSON, Obituary

BIG SANDY Bernice (Linn) Peterson, 90, a homesteader and farmer's wife, died Sunday, May 12, 2002, at her residence in Big Sandy of natural causes.

Funeral service is 2 p.m. Thursday at the Christ Lutheran Church with Pastor James Robinson officiating. Burial will be at the Big Sandy Cemetery. Fellowship will follow at the Church.

Bernice was born Nov. 17, 1911, to

Harry and Clara (Horn) Linn at the Chauvet House in Big Sandy. She attended Brown's Well Grade School and graduated from Big Sandy High School in 1930.

On Nov. 11, 1931, Bernice married Ernest J. Peterson at Havre. To this union three children were born and a foster child was taken in. Bernice and Ernest homesteaded and farmed in Big Sandy until their retirement in 1970. Ernest preceded Bernice in death on Jan. 7, 1981.

Bernice enjoyed flowers, cats, writing letters, and visiting friends and relatives. She was a charter member of the Big Sandy Historical Society; Cascade Humane Society; Past Noble Grand of Rebekah Lodge #113; and the Happy Hi-Liners for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Clara (Horn) Linn; husband Ernest J. Peterson on Jan. 7, 1981; sisters, Alverta Dielman and Mary Kaiser.

Survivors include her daughters, Sharon (Gary) Geyer and Joy (Arnold) Hokanson, both of Big Sandy; son, Bruce (Evelyn) Peterson of Big Sandy; foster son, Denny Ulmen Big Sandy; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three foster grandchildren; seven foster great-grandchildren.

Memorials in Bernice's honor may be made to The Big Sandy Medical Center, 3 Montana Ave., Big Sandy, MT 59520 or Chouteau County Peace Hospice, Box 458, Fort Benton, MT 59442.

Services and arrangements are under the direction of the Holland and Bonine Funeral Home in Havre.
