Two out-of-staters sign with Lights

Montana State University-Northern football coach Walt Currie has added two more recruits to his fall roster both out-of-staters.

Jacob Smith from Lakeland High School in Rathdrum, Idaho and Nicholas Ost from Esmond, R.I. recently signed letters of intent to play for the Lights.

Smith is a 6-foot-2, 250-pound defensive tackle who earned first team All-IML honors at Lakeland High.

"Jacob will bring much needed depth to the Lights defensive line and provide a solid prospect for the future," Currie said.

Ost is a 6-foot-1, 185-pound quarterback who earned all-division honors at quarterback and safety.

"Nick was a three-sport athlete who is just finishing up his military service," Currie said. "He will bring discipline and maturity of being out of high school for four years to the football field and this year's recruiting class."
