MARGARET HIRTER, Obituary

CHINOOK Margaret Zelma Hirter, died Saturday, May 18, 2002, at a Lewistown nursing home.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Kuper Memorial Cemetery.

Margaret was born to Walter Leland and Tessora Hortense Goodbar on June 3, 1915, in Chinook. The family made its home on the homestead along Clear Creek south of Chinook. She went to school at the Logie School. As a young lady, Margaret, along with her family, played for many area dances as The Goodbar Orchestra. Margaret would play banjo, mandolin or guitar.

She married William Fredrick Hirter and they lived and worked on the Flynn Brothers Ranch until moving into Chinook in 1964. She was housekeeper at the Meadowlark School for many years, then went to work at the Blaine County Courthouse until she retired.

Margaret was loved by everyone who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill in 1984; her parents; brother, Roy; sister, Mary Welte.

Survivors include her daughters, Maxine (Sonny) Harrison of Grass Range, Anna Marie (Bob) Gallus of Chinook, and Jolene (Gary) Smith of Roy; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; her brother, Terry Goodbar of Chinook.
