MARY HOULE, Obituary

ROCKY BOY Mary Agnes Russette Houle, 90, died Sunday, May 19, 2002, at a Havre hospital of natural causes.

Wake services and rosary were Monday at Mary's home. Funeral Mass was scheduled for 11 a.m. today at the Rocky Boy Catholic Church, with Father Pete Guthneck

officiating. Burial was to follow at the Rocky Boy Cemetery.

Mary was born March 25, 1913, in Rocky Boy to Jim and Mary (Yama) Russette. She attended grade school at Fort Totton, N.D., and graduated high school at Chemawa, Ore.

She returned to Rocky Boy after graduating high school and met Joseph Edward Houle. They were married Nov. 8, 1931, in Rocky Boy. Mary worked as a cook at the Rocky Boy Schools, and as a house mother at the Northern Montana College men's dormitory. She moved to California in 1952 where she worked as a drapery seamstress until she retired in 1970. The couple moved back to Rocky Boy in 1971 when he retired.

Mary's hobbies included crocheting, quilting, and spending time with her family and friends. She was a board member of Stone Child College for years and served as a board member of Rocky Boy Senior Citizens Center.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Mary (Yama) Russette; husband, Joseph Edward Houle; brothers, Ted, Jim, Mike, Raymond and Frankie Russette; daughters, Thelma Kling and Dolores Houle; son, Joe "Sonny" Houle.

Survivors include her daughters, Patricia Azure and Lorraine Jacobs, both of Box Elder, Francis Williams of Chester, Phyllis Brose of Galata; sons, Jim Houle and Warren "Ronnie" Houle, both of Box Elder; adopted daughter, Judy Houle of Rocky Boy; sisters, Betty, Phyliss and Rosie, all of Great Falls; brother, Roy Yama; 33 grandchildren; 61 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Memorials in Mary's honor may be made to the donor's choice.

Services and arrangements are under the direction of Holland and Bonine Funeral Home.
