ETHEL PETERSON, Obituary

CHINOOK Ethel Mae Peterson, 92, died at her home on Sunday, May 19, 2002, from injuries sustained by an accidental fall.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday in the Chinook United Methodist Church. Burial is to follow in Kuper Memorial Cemetery.

Ethel was born Jan. 26, 1910, in Davenport, Iowa, to Maude (Flemming) and Henry Galbraith. The family moved to Montana in 1914. Ethel attended country schools throughout Blaine County and in Havre. She graduated from Kennedy Deaconess Hospital in 1932 as a registered nurse. She worked in the Deaconess and Sacred Heart hospitals and also several hospitals around the state. She was also a qualified American Red Cross nurse and gave her service on the home front during and after World War II.

She married Leo Peterson in 1939. They lived and worked in Havre until 1945, when they moved south of Chinook to farm. The couple made their home there until 1983, when Leo died. Ethel moved to Chinook in 1984 and resided there until her death.
