Wirt named girls coach at Ronan

Former Havre High basketball standout Jason Wirt has been named as the new girls basketball coach at Class A Ronan High School.

Wirt, who replaces Bill Buckless, has been an assistant coach for both the boys and girls basketball programs at the school for the past two years.

Wirt was an all-state basketball player at Havre High. He played college ball at Montana Tech for two seasons before transferring to Montana State University-Northern, where he finished his collegiate career.

He graduated from Northern in 1999 with a bachelor of science degree in biology and then added a bachelor degree in secondary education in general science in 2000.

Wirt and his wife, Heather, live in Polson and have one daughter, Brooklyn McKenna. Heather also played ball for the Skylights for three seasons.
