Baseball Jamboree 2002

Good luck Northstars and Comets!!

Legion Field will be swarming with more than 100 baseball players this weekend as the Havre Northstar 2002 Baseball Jamboree kicks off Thursday.

Twelve teams will partake in the tournament, including the Havre Northstars and Comets. The two teams will also have a spilt-squad game Friday morning.

Each team will play in at least four games with the exception of the Havre split-squad, which will only play one game.

Teams will travel from all ends of the state, as well as North Dakota, to play in the four-day, 23-game event.

Lewistown and Kootenai Valley start the tournament Thursday afternoon at 12:30. Lewistown will play its second straight game following at 2:45 against the Havre Comets. The Comets will be back in action again at 7:15 against Glasgow for game four.

Game six features the Havre split-squad team taking on Williston Friday morning at 10:15. The Comets will take on Kootenai Valley at 5 p.m. with the Northstars following in back-to-back games at 7:15. The Northstars will face Dillon in their first game of the tournament and will wrap up the day with Gallatin Valley.

Both Havre teams will have most of Saturday to rest as neither plays until later that night. The Northstars will take on Great Falls at 7:15 p.m. with the Comets to follow against Missoula at 9:30.

The Northstars play their final game of the tournament Sunday afternoon at 1:30. The tournament will wrap up at 6 p.m. Sunday with Gallatin Valley taking on Scobey.

The tournament is an opportunity for both the Comets and Northstars to face teams other than each other. The Comets and Northstars wrapped up their regular season games against each other May 29 with a 6-5 Northstars win. The Northstars swept the season series.

The Northstars enter the tournament with a near-perfect 16-1 record. Their lone loss came May 10 to the Great Falls Electrics. The Comets bring a 4-13 record into the weekend.
