Havre Ford hosts free ID kit day for kids

Havre Ford will host a free child identification event on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Parents can bring their children to Havre Ford for free "Commitment to Kids" safety identification kits. A photograph will be taken of each child, and instructions will be provided for parents to complete their child's physical description information. A police officer also will be on hand to fingerprint children and answer questions.

The Commitment to Kids program is a partnership of Ford Blue Oval Certified dealers, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, and actress Jamie Lee Curtis. Last summer, Ford Blue Oval Certified dealers helped educate communities about child safety by distributing more than 450,000 identification kits nationwide. Ford expects the number of kits distributed to reach 1 million this year.

A completed identification kit can help expedite the return of a missing child. Taking a few minutes to complete an identification kit may be the single most important thing Havre parents do for their kids this year. Parents are urged to repeat the identification process every six months to maintain updated information.

Havre Ford is located at 1991 Hwy. 2 W. and is open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays.
