McClelland Ferry to reopen soon

The McClelland Ferry was closed due to high water levels in the Missouri River, but officials expect it to be reopened tonight or Tuesday.

The free ferry, a joint Blaine and Fergus county operation north of Winifred, closes when the depth of the river raises safety concerns, Blaine County Commissioner Don Swenson said today.

The high river levels caused by last week's rain and snow shut the ferry down over the weekend. County crews were sent to work on shoring up the approaches today before it is reopened, Swenson said.
