RUBY SKOYEN, Obituary

CHINOOK Ruby Marie Skoyen, 65, died Sunday, June 16, 2002, at her home north of Chinook due to a heart attack.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Lloyd Sweet Auditorium in Chinook High School. Burial will be at the family farm north of Chinook.

Ruby was born June 8, 1937, in Havre to Frank and Bernice (Sapp) Mangold. The family lived at Inverness during her younger years.

She married Floyd Skoyen of Chinook on Nov. 21, 1953, at St. Jude's Catholic Church in Havre. The couple resided 13 miles north of Chinook on the family farm. They had three sons and in 1989 took in a foster daughter, who has since been adopted into the family.

Ruby worked as a waitress, cook and manager for several years. In 1974, she went to work for the Chinook school system as a library aide and was employed there until her death. During her years as a library aide, she was tough but fair to the students. She believed rules were to be followed. Ruby was involved in the speech and drama program from 1978 to this season. Speech and drama was one of her greatest loves after her grandchildren. She loved working with the kids and their successes were her pride and joy. Her family was proud and supported her enthusiasm for the program.

Ruby was preceded in death by her father, Frank, and mother, Bernice, and her brothers, Billie, Ed and Howard.

Survivors include her husband, Floyd Skoyen of Chinook; sons, John (Barb), Greg (Dora), and Loren (Marianne), all of Chinook; daughter, Jennifer Andrews of Chinook; sisters, Betty Sattleen of Chinook, Shirley Kline of Rudyard and Maggie Stubbs of Phoenix; eight grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the CHS speech and drama program and Blaine County Ambulance.

Edwards Funeral Home of Chinook is handling arrangements.
