MCC adds Johnstone

Jason Johnstone of two-time defending state Class A champion Havre has signed a letter of intent to play golf at Miles Community College.

Johnstone has received all-state honors three times for the Ponies. His 71 on the second day of this year's state tournament led all individuals. Johnstone, who was named Havre male golfer-of-the-year, shot a 64 (29-35) to win the Chinook Golf Invite earlier this year.

Johnstone earned the Steve Schwartz trophy as the lowest-scoring junior in the Montana State Amateur Tournament and was also a member of the Montana-Alberta Cup Team. When he was 16 years old, Johnstone was believed to be the youngest club champion ever in Havre, officials said.
