MADELINE HOVEN, Obituary

Madeline Rene Hoven, 82, retired legal secretary, died Tuesday, June 18, 2002 at a Helena care center of natural causes.

Rosary service is 7 p.m. Friday at the Holland and Bonine Chapel. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Saturday at the St. Jude Catholic Church with Fr. Marcel Vogel officiating. Burial is to follow at the Calvary Cemetery. Fellowship to follow burial at the St. Jude Parish Center.

Madeline was born Feb. 25, 1920, to Jerome and Florence (Jeffries) Daly at Great Falls. She grew up in Great Falls and graduated from the Ursuline Academy.

In 1941, Madeline married Gordon E. Hoven in Great Falls. The couple resided in Great Falls, and then moved to Plentywood, where Gordon operated his private law practice. Gordon moved his family and his law practice to Havre in 1958. Madeline worked as Gordon's legal secretary until his death in 1972. In 1974, Madeline went to work for the State Highway Department. She later retired.

Madeline moved to a Helena care facility to be near her sons.

Madeline had an active interest in politics and stayed up on all the latest events. She enjoyed reading, loved animals, and was very dedicated to her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jerome and Florence (Jeffries) Daly; husband, Gordon E. Hoven Sr. in 1972; daughter, Rene Hoven in 1998; sister, Virginia Daly; brothers, Jerome Daly and Gene B. Daly.

Survivors include her sons, Gordon (Bette) Hoven and Dan (Barbara) Hoven, all of Helena; daughter, Mary (Steve) Schulze Kalispell; grandchildren, Gordon R., Derek, Pat, Mike, and Erica Hoven, all of Helena, and Shawna and Kristin Schulze of Kalispell; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorials in Madeline's honor may be made to St. Jude Catholic Church, 624 Fourth St., Havre, MT 59501, of The City of Havre Animal Shelter, 520 Fourth St., Havre, MT 59501.

Services and arrangements are under the direction of the Holland and Bonine Funeral Home.
