Shelter looks for volunteers

The Havre animal shelter is overloaded with work, and is looking for volunteers to help out.

The shelter has only one full-time employee, Gordon Inabnit. Inabnit has been the animal control officer for 11 years, and says that nearly 300 animals come through the shelter each year.

His main duty of providing animal control around the city suffers because of the amount of time he needs to be present at the shelter.

"Gordon does as much as he can," said Fran Buell, a local professional dog trainer, "but he is only one person."
