Huse signs first recruit

Montana State University-Northern head coach Shawn Huse has announced his first new signee for the 2002-2003 Lights basketball season William Walter Lee Runsabove.

Runsabove is a 2001 Wolf Point High School graduate who was an all conference and all state player for the Wolves. He led the Wolves to the state tournament in his junior and senior years, averaging 19 points per game. Wolf Point placed second at state during his senior year.

Runsabove played last season for United Tribes Technical College where he was a starting point guard. He scored a team -high 38 points in the game that sent the United Tribes team on its way to the NJCAA Division II Junior College National Tournament in Danville, Ill. He drained seven three-pointers and was 13-for-13 from the free-throw line in the game.

"Walter is a fine individual who cares very much about everyone he comes in contact with," Huse said. "He spends a great deal of his spare time being active in community service. He also happens to be a very good basketball player. He is a very potent threat who can hit the three on a regular basis.

"We are very excited to have Walter in our program."

Runsabove is also a champion dancer on the powwow circuit.
