MCC signs Ireland

Havre star pitcher Doug Ireland has committed to play baseball next spring for the Miles Community College Pioneers.

Ireland, a 6-foot-3 190-pound right-hander, compiled a 9-5 record in 2001 for the Northstars. He struck out 83 batters in 92 innings of work.

"Doug is a very good pitcher with a great upside down the road," Pioneers head coach Rob Bishop said. "We feel he will make an immediate impact at MCC."

Ireland has a no-hitter to his credit this season.

He joins former teammates Garrett Hanson and Kyle Sheppard, who have also signed to play ball next spring for Miles Community College.
