Post office expects stamps
July 1, 2002
The Havre post office is expecting a new shipment of 25,000 3-cent stamps this afternoon after it ran out of the 3-cent variety by 11 this morning.
The shipment is expected by 3 p.m., postmaster Richard O'Leary said. A total of 20,000 3-cent stamps had already been sold at the Havre office.
"I don't know if we've ever run out. But it's a common thing that we sell that many makeup stamps right away," he said.
The postal rate for a letter jumped to 37 cents on Sunday so many people need to buy 3-cent stamps to combine with their supply of 34-cent stamps.
