Pat Wayne Austin, 47, a local contractor died Saturday, July 6, 2002, in a motorcycle accident on the Beaver Creek Highway.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial celebrating his life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bear Paw Lumber, where he went every morning for coffee before work.

A reception will follow at the Eagles.

Pat was born March 11, 1955, to John W. and Geneva M. (Kimmel) Austin in Missoula. He was raised in the Wolf Creek Canyon area and later lived in West Glacier. In 1971 his family moved to Havre where he attended Havre High School. After High School, Pat worked at the wrecking yards with his dad.

On Dec. 1, 1978, Pat married Janet Knudson. They had three children, Kyle, Tera, and Katie. The couple divorced in 1992.

On Feb. 13, 1994, Pat married Kim Shupert in Las Vegas, Nev. They had one son, Jonathan.

Pat owned and operated JG & P Rental, he was a contractor of many skills. He was well known for helping others and never asking for anything in return. Pat enjoyed hunting, riding motorcycles, water skiing, flying his plane, participating in the demo derbies and most of all spending time with his family.

Pat was preceded in death by his father John Austin and his grandmother Adah Austin Thilmony.

He is survived by his wife, Kim A. Austin of Havre; mother, Geneva Austin of Havre; his daughters, Tera Verploegen and husband, Chad, of Havre, and Katie Austin of Great Falls; sons, Kyle Austin, Thomas Kline and Jonathan Austin, all of Havre; sister, Penny Olson and husband, Ed, of Great Falls; three grandchildren, Quintin Kallenberger, and Kyley and Jeralynn Verploegen, all of Havre; niece, Ashlee Olson of Great Falls. His special friends included Joe Brough, Jim Brough, Wade Bickford, Shawn Bickford, Gerry Ceynar and many others.

Memorials in Pat's honor may be made to Kim Austin, 1405 33rd Avenue N.E., Havre, MT 59501 for the education of his children.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Holland and Bonine Funeral Home.
