Lights ink transfer from Monterey Peninsula College

Montana State University-Northern head men's basketball coach Shawn Huse has announced the signing of Travis Moran from Carmel, Calif.

Moran is a 6-foot-4 junior guard who averaged 14 points, four rebounds and four assists per game last season for Monterey Peninsula College.

"Travis is a very versatile player," Huse said. "He possesses the ability to stick the three point shot, handle the ball, defend and play well around the basket. He plays extremely hard and smart. Travis is very well-rounded and is the type of person to carry a lot of weight on his shoulders. His work ethic and desire are characteristics that exemplify the type of people we are looking for in our program."

Moran's ultimate goal is to achieve above average grades and receive a business degree in the spring of 2004, Huse said.

"It is not enough for him just to be a basketball player. He understands the importance of school," Huse said. "We are very happy to have a guy with outstanding character like him join the program."
