YVONNE RONSHAUGEN, Obituary

CONRAD Yvonne Kay Ronshaugen, 62, died Sunday, July 7, 2002, at a Great Falls hospital due to cancer.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Chester. A second service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Skudesnes Lutheran Church near Pierpont, S.D. Burial will follow in the Skudesnes Church Cemetery.

Yvonne was born Oct. 19, 1939, to Harvey and Hazel (Aadland) Nygaard in Webster, S.D. The Nygaards made their home on a farm near Pierpont and later moved into Roslyn, S.D. Yvonne graduated from Roslyn High School in 1957. During her school years, she was a cheerleader and exceptional student. Upon graduation, she began working at a grocery store in Webster.

Yvonne married Jim Ronshaugen on June 27, 1958, at Skudesnes Lutheran Church near Pierpont. They made their home at Webster where Yvonne worked at the Day County Treasurer's Office. In 1960, they lived in West Germany, where Jim was stationed in the U.S. Army. They returned to South Dakota in 1963 and Yvonne worked as a clerk at the county extension office. In 1966, they moved to Watertown, S.D. During their 15 years in Watertown, Yvonne worked diligently as a homemaker and mother to their three adopted children. They lived in Great Falls from 1981 to 84, then moved to Chester. Yvonne was employed at Frontier Aviation in Chester until 1996, when Jim's job was transferred to Conrad. They had lived in Conrad since. While there, Yvonne worked at the Ben Franklin Store and Gary and Leo's IGA.

Yvonne was always active in her church life. She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, was active in WELCA, had served on the church council, and assisted with the summer Bible school program.

Yvonne loved to crochet and do handiwork, including afghans and Christmas ornaments and angels. She also enjoyed reading, particularly Danielle Steele books, and collected Beanie Babies. She also enjoyed cooking some of her favorite family dishes included lasagna, scalloped potatoes and kumla, a Norwegian potato dumpling.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother-in-law, Arthur "Skip" Hanson.

Survivors include her husband of 44 years, Jim Ronshaugen of Conrad; son, Jeff Ronshaugen of Great Falls; daughters, Mary Ronshaugen of Great Falls and Julie (Jeff) Englert of Ramstein, Germany; brother, Ron (Judy) Nygaard of Eden, S.D.; sisters, Jon (Bud) Ingemann of Cottage Grove, Minn., and Marlene Hanson of Rosholt, S.D.; mother-in-law, Josie Ronshaugen of Roslyn, S.D.; five grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
