MARIE THOMAS, Obituary

PORTLAND, Ore. Marie Elvine Thomas, 88, Portland, Ore., died Sunday, July 14, 2002.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Harlem.

Marie Elvine Parenteau was born to Leo Parenteau and Ursule Trottier on Dec. 22, 1913, in Lac Pelletier, Saskatchewan. She lived in Canada for a number of years before moving with her family to Harlem in 1924.

In 1940, she married Ferdinand Thomas and moved to Chicago, where she was later divorced. In 1976, she moved to Portland where she lived until her death.

Survivors include her son, Duane; daughters, Sharon Costello and Sandra Hellinga; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are by Oregon Cremation.
