ELIE BRUNER, Obituary

Elie Agnes (Skram) Bruner, 87, Choteau, retired homemaker and former Havre-area resident, died Sept. 26, 2001, of natural causes at a Choteau medical center.

A memorial service will be July 23 at 2 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Havre.

A memorial service was Sept. 26 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Choteau, the Rev. Jerry Olson officiated. Cremation took place under the direction of Gorder Funeral Home of Choteau.

She was born Nov. 6, 1913, in Havre, the daughter of Ingebrigt and Anna (Stove) Aardal. She was raised and educated in Havre, graduating from high school in Havre. She then attended Normal School at Northern Montana College. She taught school in a country school north of Havre for several years. She married Alf Reinhardt Skram and they made their lives together for the next 45 year.

Her husband died in 1978.

After her children were raised, she became an activities coordinator at the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd in Havre, a position that she held for between 10 and 15 years. She was one of the founders of the Montana Association of Nursing Home Activity Directors.

Upon retiring, she moved to Choteau where she married Paul Edward Bruner on June 4, 1986. He preceded her in death.

She loved doing crafts and Norwegian rosemaling, a type of decorative painting on wood. She loved life and her family and friends. She always had a ready smile.

She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Rebekah Lodge, Soroptimists, Garden Club, Girl Scouts, 4-H and the Sons Of Norway.

Her survivors include two daughters, Reidun Rapp of Choteau and Karen Eggen of San Antonio, Texas; a stepdaughter, Eloise Erickson of Valier; three grandchildren, Anna Pratt Finnegan of St. Cloud, Minn., Kirsty Walsh of Baltimore, Md., and David Eggen of Houston, Texas; and two stepgrandchildren, Deb of Billings and Renae of Orem, Utah.

Memorials are suggested to the Teton Medical Center, Activities Department, Choteau, MT 59422 or the Trinity Lutheran Church, Building Fund, Choteau, MT 59422.
