Nee Wahs run attracts nearly 70 competitors

FORT BELKNAP Joe Fisher of Browning burned the Nee Wah's Run field Saturday morning, finishing more than three minutes ahead of his nearest competitor in the 5K road race. Fisher clocked 15 minutes and 15 seconds to take first overall. Second place among men went to 20- to 29-year-old age group winner Adrian Main in 18:39.

The women's winner was Wasewi Shawl of Browning, who recorded a blistering 20:20. Her closest competitor was Waverly Shawl, Wasewi's mother, who captured the 40-49 age group title in 23:50.

The road race, held in conjunction with Fort Belknap's Milk River Indian Days celebration, attracted 68 runners and walkers.

Other age group winners were:

12 and under boys: Taylor Joe in 27:37

12 and under girls: Maurvella Fuller in 24:10

13-19 boys: Ourel Kinsel in 20:04

13-19 girls: Olivia Main in 25:25

20-29 women: Lynette Chandler in 26:18

30-39 men: Diego Hammett in 20:52

30-39 women: Charlene Big Knife in 25:06

40-49 men: Scott Snow in 23:44

50-59 men: Bruce Bradway in 25:15

60 and over men: Fiddles Blackcrow in 26:47

60 and over women: Pat Bear in 42:05
