Havre billboard goes up near Fort Benton

The final phase of a four-part billboard project by the Havre Area Chamber of Commerce Tourism Committee was completed recently.

The billboard was placed near Fort Benton with a goal of directing Lewis and Clark tourists north to Havre.

The billboard was done in a partnership with the Community Improvement Association and was also a cooperative marketing project with Russell Country, the regional tourism division of Travel Montana. The Chamber's tourism committee paid 50 percent of the total project cost of $4,896 and Russell Country paid the remaining 50 percent.

The other billboards that welcome visitors to Havre are located on both the east and west edges of town and on Highway 232, coming in from the north. The billboards on the east and west edges of town were also cooperative marketing projects with Russell Country.

The program has also paid for brochures for Havre Beneath the Streets, Wahkpa Chu'gn buffalo jump, and Bear Paw Ski Bowl.
