Boys hold on to fourth place tie

The Havre High School golf team begins wrapping up its first full week of competition as it enters the second and final day of the Great Falls Invitational prep tourney.

Coming off tourneys in Butte on Monday and Lewistown on Tuesday, the Blue Ponies didn't let fatigue slow them down.

The Pony boys fired a 318 to tie Bozeman High for fourth. Billings Skyview was first with a 303, Flathead was second with 312, and Whitefish held on to third with 314.

Havre High was led by Trent Normandy, who tied for second overall with a 72 Thursday.

Scores of individual team members were: Jon Johnstone, 78; Ben Erickson, 79; Eric Ward, 89; and Chazz Hurlburt, 90.

The Blue Pony girls lack members to qualify as a team, but fared well individually.

Amanda Brock led the Havre girls with a 107, followed by Ryan Hamilton with 109 and Heather Bowker with 125.

Normandy won the Butte tourney with a 71 and Johnstone came in second with a 72. Normandy tied for second at Lewistown with a 78.

Havre's A team took second in both tourneys.

Brock took fifth among the girls in Lewistown with a 104.
