Defense shines in lueWhite game

The Havre High Blue Pony football team held its annual Blue/White scrimmage on Friday night at Blue Pony Stadium and head coach Troy Purcell was pleased with the his team's performance.

"I was very pleased overall with the scrimmage," Purcell said, "We tried to make the two teams as even as we could and everybody did really well."

The controlled scrimmage gives the team some real-time game experience and also helps the coaching staff establish the depth chart.

"Coming out of the Blue/White game we now know who our number ones and twos are at most positions so we can give them most of the reps in practice this week as we prepare for our first game," Purcell said.

As for his players' performance on the field during the scrimmage, Purcell was especially pleased with his defense.

"The defense really shined in the scrimmage," Purcell said, "And we had some individuals that really stepped it up as well."

Havre High kicks things off for real this Saturday afternoon at Blue Pony Stadium against Western Conference rival Whitefish at 2 p.m.
