ROBERT MITCHELL, Obituary

ROCKY BOY Robert "Bobby" E. Mitchell, 66, night watchman for Rocky Boy Health Board, died Monday, Aug. 26, 2002, at his residence in Rocky Boy as the result of a recent heart attack.

Wake will begin at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church at Rocky Boy this afternoon. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Lutheran Church in Rocky Boy with the Rev. Pete Guthneck officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at the Rocky Boy Cemetery.

Bobby was born June 4, 1936, to Paul and Leona (NoMee) Mitchell in the Fort Belknap Hospital. He attended grade school at Rocky Boy and the Flandreau Indian School in Flandreau, S.D.

In 1958, Bobby entered the U.S. Armed Forces. Three years later, he entered the U. S. Marine Corps. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Marine Corps. in 1964. He returned to Rocky Boy when he was discharged.

In 1969, Bobby married Emma Saddler. At the time of his death, he was the night watchman for the Rocky Boy Health Board. He dedicated 30 years as an ambulance driver for the emergency medical services for the Chippewa Cree Tribe. He also drove school bus for Rocky Boy schools and served for many years on the Chippewa Cree Housing Board.

His hobbies included watching football and baseball on television, playing Keno, horseback riding, fishing and playing cards. He most enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church at Rocky Boy.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Leona (NoMee) Mitchell; brother, John Lorin Mitchell; and daughter, Josette Mitchell.

Survivors include her brothers, Russell James Mitchell and Wallace Paul Mitchell; sons, James Dean Mitchell, Jeffrey Four Souls and Grant Saddler; daughters Candy Carter and Rosa Jarvey; grandchildren, Fabian Saddler Sr., Saphire Carter, Rebeka and Mark Jarvey Jr., Jordana, Malcolm and Jaylynn Mitchell, grandchildren adopted as children, Tyrone Matthew Saddler and ShoShana Mae Saddler; great-grandchildren Roseanne and Fabian Saddler Jr .; numerous nieces and nephews, all of Rocky Boy.

Services and arrangements are under the direction of the Holland and Bonine Funeral Home in Havre.
