Northern program aimed at improving heart health

Montana State University-Northern is holding a self-help class that focuses on reducing health risks and improving heart health.

The class will teach people how to: identify personal health risks; make a realistic day-by-day plan for increasing physical activity and reducing high-risk behaviors; improve dietary choices; identify and avoid behaviors and conditions that may increase the risk of heart damage and disease.

The program, "A Guide to a Healthy Heart," will consist of two, one-hour sessions per week, beginning Sept. 16 at 7 p.m. and lasting four weeks.

Classes will be from 7 to 8 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays in Room 232B of the MSU-N Physical Education Complex.

The cost if $15 for people insured through MSU-N and $25 for other community members.

The cost includes eight sessions and a self-help guide to use during classes and for follow-up.
