TILLIE C. KELLAR, Obituary

Tillie C. Kellar, 87, died Monday, Sept. 2, 2002, at a home in Kalispell.

A prayer vigil will be held at 8 p.m. on Wednesday and the funeral will be Thursday 10 a.m., both at St. Jude's Catholic Church in Havre.

Born Ottilia Caroline Fisher on Oct. 15, 1914, to Joseph and Theresa (Burkhartsmeyer) Fisher in Strausberg, N.D., she grew up and was educated in the farming community of Goldstone north of Rudyard.

Tillie married Earl Raymond Kellar on Feb. 18, 1938, at Goldstone and they lived in Cedar Falls, Iowa, Lavina, and Joplin, where Earl was a teacher and a coach. Later the family relocated to Havre and Tillie was a full-time homemaker and raised five children. Tillie and Earl divorced in 1959.

Tillie worked in motel management for 20 years at the LeHavre Inn, Duck Inn Motel, and Cloud Nine. She later moved to Great Falls to manage the Crestview Inn.

She was a lifelong member of St. Jude's Church, a charter member of St. Ann's Circle, belonged to the Ladies Auxilliary of the Eagles, the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen Auxillary, and Alanon.

Tillie enjoyed sewing and quilting. Along with her mother and aunt, she prepared quilts and rugs for the Montana pioneer exhibit on early settlers at the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C.

In March of 2000 with failing health Tillie moved to the Flathead Valley to be near her daughters and resided at Wel Life Assisted Living in Kalispell.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, Joseph and Theresa Fisher; brothers, John and Mike Fisher; sisters, Katy Whaley and Martha Hanson Colling; son, Rodney Kellar; and daughter, Doris Weishaar.

Survivors include her daughters; Alice (Alton) Mewbourn of Rollins, Jean (Michael) Barragan of Lakeside; son, Thomas D. Kellar of Havre; three grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
